Natural Dye – Iron Dye

Mordant: Alum 8% dry weight 12/13/18 – 12/15/18

  • Iron screws removed from 1 week old iron modifier
  • Screws folded into cotton fabric and bound with rubber bands
  • Simmered on low/medium heat for 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Done after birch bark bath without change
  • Let cool over night
  • Unrolled and air dried
  • Machine washed and dried low
